Marine unions meet
PA Wellington Representatives of New Zealand’s seven main maritime and transport worker unions will meet in Wellington today to discuss progress on moves to unite the groups under one organisation.
The unions announced in June their intention to
form a national organisation independent of the proposed Council of Trade Unions.
The new Federation of Maritime and Transport and General Workers Organisations, representing 20,000 members, is expected to be in existence before the end of this year.
