China drenched
A dam burst in the southern China province of Evandong this week, killing 103 people and injuring 914. Much of Meizhou city was under three metres of water. In the province of Sichuan, at least 36 people were killed when torrential rain hit earlier this month. The “Sichuan Daily” newspaper said 19 hours of storms dumped 300 mm of rain on the Nanchong district—Peking.
