Lean skating trot
For the third successive winter, competitive outdoor ice skaters have experienced a lean trot. The Ice Racing Federation of New Zealand has planned its national championships for Lake Ida for the last three weeks, but they have still to be held.
Hopes are high to race this week-end, but although the ice is of a good depth, the weather forecast is far from promising. Frustrations were creeping in again, said a spokesman for the federation.
