Public Notices NEW ZEALAND FOREST SERVICE NOTICE OF INTENTION TO LAY POISON THE New Zealand Forest Service will, during the period of August 11 to September 26 1986, be laying the deadly poison — Sodium Monofluroacetate, commonly known as 1080, in Jam form and pellet form, by hand, for possum control on new and existing plantings and bush surrounds in the following State Forest areas: MAHINAPUA 5.F.17: Adairs Road, Compartment 1, 40ha. Blue Bottle Road, Compartment 19, 86ha Coal Creek Road, Compartment 22, 39ha NEMONA S.F. 31; Ogilvies Road/Irlshmans Road, Compartment 10, 2ha Irishmans Road, Compartment 11, 3ha. Dogs are extremely susceptible to 1080 and may be poisoned by eating carcases of poisoned animals. The Game (Packing and Export) regulations 1967 Clause 49 (1) specifies "that recovery of game meat will not be permitted in or within Bkm of the area where poison is laid for a period of four weeks following completion of poisoning.” Entry to these State Forest by permit holders for possum hunting and other forest users is not restricted.
