N.Z. urged to compete
By PETER O’HARA Edinburgh The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Sir Shridath Ramphal, had told New Zealand it should compete in the Commonwealth Games,
said the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Palmer. Mr Palmer saw Sir Shridath in London on his way to ’ the Games and told NZPA yesterday, “it was his clear view that we ought to compete.”
Mr Palmer said his Government had not considered intervening in the New Zealand team’s participation. '. , “We have no power over the athletes to compete," he said.
