BNZ shares
Sir,—ln view of the statement by Mr Bolger, that if the National Party becomes the Government at the next election it will sell all shares in the Bank of New Zealand if this Government goes ahead with its plan to sell private shares in the bank makes the plan even more ludicrous. The Labour Party was the instigator of the people’s bank. To sell shares for the sake of $150,000,000 capital is even more bizarre, when this Government lost millions of dollars on an illtimed devaluation and millions of dollars on an ill-timed devaluation and millions more since by an overvalued floating dollar. It is indicative of the corner that Labour has painted itself into that it must now contemplate selling the nation’s assets for a pittance.—Yours, etc., J. SHARP. July 22, 1986.
