Half-sister to Twig Moss purchased
Special correspondent Auckland Australasian Breeding Stables have purchased a yearling half-sister to the top Australian sire Twig Moss.
The public company bought the filly, which is by Arctic Tern, at the first day of the Keeneland Selected Sale at Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday.
Twig Moss, a former top French three-year-old of 1976, is currently lying second to Sir Tristram on the Australian Sires’ list with one of his best representatives being Handy Proverb. Arctic Term, the sire of the youngster, is represented in New Zealand by the stallions Khairpour and Dorchester. Arctic Tern is also the sire of two French Oaks
winners, Escaline and Harbour, and it is in France that the close relation of Twig Moss will race.
“It is our intention to send the filly to France where she will begin racing as a late two-year-old,” said Mr Rob McAnulty, spokesman for A.B.S. “She will come to Newbury (the A.B.S. property) at the end of her three-year-old racing.” One of the top French trainers, Patrick-Louis Blancone, of Chantilly, will train the filly.
