Willey to stand in for Emburey

NZPA staff correspondent

London The England cricket selectors have recalled the all-rounder, Peter Willey, to replace the injured off-spinner, John Emburey, for the first test against New Zealand. Willey, aged 36, an offspinner and a batsman

most noted for his ability against fast bowling, will also provide cover for the all-rounder, Derek Pringle. He is doubtful because of a back muscle spasm problem. Willey, who made his test debut in 1976, toured the West Indies earlier this year, but had to return early from the Caribbean for a knee operation.
