Virgin Is., Brunei join boycott
From

The Virgin Islands and Brunel yesterday joined the boycott of the Commonwealth Games, but the number of teams staying away rose only one, to 28.
Lesotho announced yesterday that it was sending a team. Previously, it was listed among the boycotting nations.
Twenty-eight teams are now resident in the Games village in Edin-
burgh and the remaining two, Lesotho and Gibraltar, are expected at any time. Lesotho brings to five the number of African teams that have declined to join the boycott over the refusal of the British Prime Minister, Mrs Thatcher, to introduce trade sanctions against South Africa.
The others are Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, and Swaziland. They are represented by a total of 111 athletes and officials.
