PA Wellington Cory-Wright and Salmon, Ltd, the Welling-ton-based engineer and importer, announced a 39 per cent increase in after-tax profit in the year ended March 31 to $3,304,000 ($2,379,000). Directors also declared a one-for-one bonus issue for shares held on July 31. Convertible specified preference shareholders would also participate in the bonus issue in the same ratio to ordinary shareholders and receive their entitlement on conversion. The share register will close on July 31. The final dividend is 7c a share, or 14 per cent, which makes a total for the year of 10c, (20 per cent). Bonus shares in lieu of dividend will be allocated to shareholders who have elected to receive them. Turnover was $76,424,000 ($72,229,000). Profit before tax was $4,533,000 ($4,157,000), and tax was assessed at $1,042,000 ($1,620,000). Minority interests of $476,000 ($435,000) were deducted, and Cory-Wright and Salmon’s share of associated companies’ profits was $289,000 ($277,000).
