Softball victories
NZPA Vancouver New Zealand had two good wins at the international softball series in Vancouver, Canada, yesterday and now has scored three wins in five games. In the first game New Zealand played the highly ranked United States No. 1 team and it looked all over for New Zealand in the third innings when it made two errors to allow the US. to score two runs.
However, the New Zealand women fought back with Karen Mills scoring a hit in the fourth innings, advancing to second when Andrea Hirini
got a walk, and coming home on a pass ball to take the score to 2-1. J. New Zealand kept the Americans from adding to their score and then scored again In the sixth innings to make it 2-2. I
It was also in the sixth, with one runner on base, that Gina Weber — with two strikes and no balls on her ?- hit the ball over the fence and out of the park for a tworun homer, to give New Zealand the win, 4-2. ' | In its second game yesterday New Zealand scored the biggest win of the tournament so rar, beating Canada No. 2, 10-0. F
