Anglicans for women bishops
PA, Wellington The Wellington Anglican Diocesan Synod has voted in favour of ordaining women bishops in the Church. A change to the national Church’s constitution was made at the general synod which met in Rotorua in April. The amendment to the constitution was forwarded 'to regional diocese for consideration. No woman will be able to become bishop before--1989, the earliest date bv which all stages of the constitutional process can be passed. The Anglican Church in New Zealand has. ordained women priests since the 19705.
