Flood closes highway
State highway 1 was closed south of the Selwyn River after floodwaters up to 20cm deep covered the road last evening.
Motorists were diverted to a sealed detour between the Selwyn River bridge and Dunsandel.
Stopbanks were breached further up the Selwyn River early yesterday and the floodwaters flowed along a creek towards the highway during the day. Water also spilled over nearby paddocks.
The highway was closed about 4 p.m. and had not been reopened late last evening.
