Wool production field day

The New Zealand Wool Board, in conjunction with the Banks Peninsula Federated Farmers, has organised a Wool Production Field Day to be held at the Pigeon Bay Hall next Wednesday, July 16. The day’s programme is arranged so that farmers and their families can spend time in the morning, from 10 o’clock, to look at the work of local crafts people and displays arranged by the New Zealand Wool Board, Wool Research , Organisation and the Wool Testing Authority. At 12.30 p.m., the opening talk of the day will be given by Mr John Labes, a director of the New Zealand Wool Board, on "The Future for New Zealand Wool.” This will be followed by talks on the “Economics of Various Wool Options,” by Geoffrey Dunham of

the M.A.F., in Rangiora; “Shearing Times to Suit Wool Production,” by Robin Reynish, farmer from Pigeon Bay; “Sheep Breeding Plans for Wool Production," by Allister Craw, a farmer of Pigeon Bay; “Feeding Strategies for Wool Production,” by Keith Thompson, Animal Science Department, Lincoln College; and “Earning More Income from Wool,” by Bryan Bradley, New Zealand Wool Board, Christchurch. These talks are considered important in the wool production field and the object is to give farmers ideas they can take home to enable them to earn more money from their wool. Bring your own lunch.
