PA Hamilton Bank of New Zealand shares should be made available to a broad crosssection of New Zealanders, says the member of Parliament for Hamilton West, Mr Trevor Mallard. The Government did not want the shares to be controlled by large investors, he said. It would be looking at ways of making sure the shares were available to large numbers of New Zealanders.
There were a variety of ways of doing this, Mr Mallard said. A share package could be made available to every person who applied, or the first people that applied. The shares would probably not be attractive to the large “Brierley-type” buyer, Mr Mallard said.
