Spectrum Exhibitions
Spectrum Exhibitions, Ltd, the organiser of Interiors ’B6, was formed in 1982 in response to the need for specialised exhibitions in the smaller New Zealand centres.
The first Spectrum exhibition was the Ideal Home Show, held in Dunedin in 1982.
The following year, the Invercargill .and Nelson shows were established, and the home shows have grown from strength to strength since then, having proved popular both with exhibitors and with the public.
Interiors ’B5, held in the Christchurch Town Hall last year, was the first Australasian exhibition specialising in upmarket interior decor.
Spectrum developed the “Interiors” concept, and this year, as well as the Christchurch show, there will be an Interiors ’B6
held in Wellington, at the Michael Fowler Centre, and in Auckland, at the Kingsgate Centre. The use of prestigious venues is an integral part of the Interiors concept — Spectrum says it helps to emphasise the quality and style of the products being exhibited.
The first Interiors exhibition to be held in Australia will take place in November this year, at Sydney’s Centre Point Conference and Exhibition Centre.
Spectrum’s head office is in Christchurch, and there are offices in Auckland and Sydney. “It gives me great delight to refer to Auckland and Sydney offices as our branch offices,” said Mr Brendon Luxon, Spectrum’s Christchurch organiser. Spectrum has grown rapidly since its establishment, and Mr Luxon attributes this to hard work in
developing the home show concept.
“We spent so much time in the early days perfecting our exhibitions, so that when we knew we had it right, it would be easy to take the concept to other cities and countries,” he said.
Spectrum runs free training sessions to show ; ' its exhibitors how to best utilise the exhibition situation. “It’s paid off for our exhibitors, their sales people, and the public. Our exhibitions are excit-. ing, they work, and everyone’s a winner — that’s ; the way business be,” Mr Luxon said. I
As well as the Interiors ’B6 shows, Spectrum will run eight Ideal Home shows throughout New Zealand this year.
“We plan to run a total of 12 Ideal Home shows in New Zealand by 1987,” Mr Luxon said.
