Interest in seat
PA Wellington A former All Black, Ken Gray, has joined the list of potential Labour candidates interested in Dr Gerard Wall’s Porirua seat at the next General Election. Dr Wall, who is 66 and has been member for Porirua for 17 years, has not yet announced his intentions as far as his political future is concerned. A Labour Party rule stipulates that members due to turn 70 during the term of Parliament are not eligible to stand, but Dr Wall may be granted an exemption. Mr Gray, who is 48, and married, with three children, was an All Black from 1963 to 1969. He served on the Porirua City Council for six years, and is vice-chair-man of Labour’s Pare-mata-Plimmerton branch. The Rev. Don Borrie, a Wellington Hospital Board member and Titahi Bay branch member, has also confirmed his interest in the seat.
