France pushed

NZPA-AAP Canberra The touring French rugby team was given much more than a warmup for Saturday’s test against Australia by an under-rated Australian Capital Territory side. The young, strong and fit A.C.T. side turned on a remarkable performance to come off with an 18-18 draw against a French side slightly below the strength of the combination which demolished Queensland 48-9 in Brisbane on Sunday. The A.C.T. had the game in its pocket until just 10 minutes before full-time when two errors gave the French two tries and a somewhat lucky draw. The Frenchmen, were superior in line-out and ruck skills, but they were surprisingly outgunned in the mauls and scrums.
