This training Intake Is intended for persons who do not hold a social work qualifications, but who do have relevant training, experience or educational qualifications. TRAINING PROGRAMME The sequence of training will be: —Period of familiarisation at District Office. —2 weeks of training at a Residential Centre either Taranaki House Social Work Training Centre, Avondale, Auckland, or Tlromoana Social Work Training Centre, Porirua. —3 months practical work under supervision in the office. —Final 2 weeks at the Training Centre already attended. Free residential accommodation will be provided at the training centre and reasonable travel expenses will be met. Social Workers are appointed at a salary commensurate with their age, experience and qualifications at an appropriate point on a scale offering annual Increments. There is ample opportunity for promotion to senior positions. Social Workers in the Department of Social Welfare may be Involved In several fields of social work practice. Statutory responsibilities require considerable attention to family child care although social workers are also concerned with other groups requiring assistance.
