Genuine Honey impressive

STEVE WILSON
Genuine Honey looks assured of solid support for the final of the $5OO Roneo Laurels at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s on and off-course totalisator meeting on June 30 after an impressive win in his qualifying heat at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Saturday.
The brindle bitch recorded 33.90 s for the 560 m and won untested by five lengths from Tanya Two, with a length back to Swannee Hobbs. She was first to hit the ground and the result was never in doubt.
Black Thriller was a narrow winner of the second heat, just holding out the strong late run by Anything Goes. The Magpie Asset — Wee Dunnit bitch won by a head and recorded a smart 34.205.
Two qualifying heats were also conducted to select a field for the final of the $5OO Garden City Classic, also to be run on June 30, a re-
stricted age event for dogs. The Bill Werner-trained Don’t Surrender recovered well after a slow beginning to win his heat in 34.355, a length clear of the early pacemaker Roaming Mist. The second heat was taken out by the very promising Magic Command, which handled the rise in class with ease. He led all the way and recorded a comfortable two lengths win over Keytoe Royal. Other winners were: Shiny Woman (CO, 560 m, 34.805), Ragtime Rita (Cl, 560 m, 34.605), Shirley Kate (C2, 560 m, 34.405), Flipperty Glbert (C 3 560 m, 34.905), Galactic Gain (C 4 and 5, 560 m, 34.505), Matinee Miss (CO, 330 m, 20.285), Gina Borelli (CO, 330 m, 20.655), Cracker My Son (C2, 330 m, 19.755), Lucy Lopez (C2, 330 m, 20.845), Cranog Jet (C 3 330 m, 19.995), Mr Mighty (C 3 330 m, 20.10 s), Laurel’s Best (C 4 330 m, 19.835) and Chinook Lass (C 5 330 m, 20.015.
