OPENING DAY SATURDAY,JUNE 21 10.00 a.m., Mt Hutt Ski Races: Hertz Ski Challenge. Open to novice or the real hot dogger. A great way to race against the clock and win great prizes. 11.00 a.m., all day, Stelnlager’s Open Pool Tournament: A continuous “Winners and Losers” Competition with 4 tables playing simultaneously. Prizes galore. Entries to The Blue Pub. Venue: Samuel’s Bar, The Blue Pub, Methven. 2.00 p.m., Special guest: Mr Norman Geary, executive chairman of Mt Cook Group, arrives at Mt Hutt by Avon City Ford courtesy car. 3.00 p.m., Methven Town Square: Bavarian Brass Band Entertainment. Festival bbq and hamburger feast (by .Methven Maggoers). 3.15 p.m., Special guest: Mr Norman Geary arrives in Methven by Mt Hutt Air Helicopter. 3.30 p.m., Festival’s Snow Parade: Special celebrities', Liz Grant and John Dunne (Parade M.C.S), of “The Mainland Touch,” The Wizard. Bavarian Brass Band, flags of international countries, children’s national dress competition, the Snowfed Queen, buskers, skiers, Top Town teams, highland dancers and pipe band, snowmobiles, snow bunnies, scouts and cubs, guides and brownies, John and Jan’s Aerobic Dancing Troup, and the sky divers spectacular (landing right in town). 4.15 p.m., The Snowfed Republic welcomes its special guest: Guest’s address to open the festival, accompanied by flag raising, trumpet fanfares. The flight of the Snowfed pigeons and the Wizard shall call up the spirits of Mt Hutt.

4.30 p.m., The Lion’s Club Festival of Fun commences: Choral

singers, Bavarian band, pipe band, highland dancers, buskers, food stalls, games and fun for all.

8.00 a.m., A Snowfed breakfast: A hearty serving of pancakes and champagne served in Town Square to start you off to a great day’s skiing.

10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., Mt Hutt fancy dress day of ski-ing: Join the laugh. Your fancy dress costume could win you a learner’s ski pack or a whole day of free lifts.

10.30 a.m., Methven mid-winter golf tournament: Hit-off 10.30 a.m. Morning tea served from 10.00 a.m. Men and women, all grades. Novelty holes, raffles, and prizes. Entry fee $lO. Twos, teams, includes meal. Entries, phone Methven 28-609.

4.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m., Methven street bazaar. Stacks of great bargains to be found here. Clothing, souvenirs, nick-nacks, cakes, treasures. A whole host of goodies awaits. Three categories: Junior, Intermediate and Mad. Some great prizes, !/ 2 -day race clinic instruction, iy 2 hour ski lessons, free road toll passes. Come on, your big chance to be a down-hill racer.

11.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m., Progressive pool competition: Canterbury Hotel. Throughout the day, 50c entry fee, prizes galore. Grand prize, a pool cue complete with carrying case. 3.00 p.m., School children’s Top Town caper: An afternoon for both primary and high schools to battle it out for the Snowfed Top Town school team, sponsored by the Apple and Pear Marketing Board. 5.00 p.m., Steinlager’s Top Town winter event: Teams from tour groups. Local clubs and pubs, ski racers and anyone else

who wants to enter these chilling events to win the title Snowfed Top town Team. Prizes by Steinlager. Venue, Methven Football Club. 8.00 p.m., A feast of films and videos: Ski-ing at its very best. TUESDAY, June 24 10.00 a.m., Mt Hutt ski race day: Bamford tours 11.00 a.m., Value tours 1.00 p.m. If you are not racing come and watch. 2.30 p.m M The Winter Festival ski display: Mt Hutt Ski and Race School shows how it’s done. 5.00 p.m., A Fun and Food Night: A feast of international food and fun for the whole family and provided by Community Focus (our local Churches Organisation). Venue: Mt Hutt Memorial Hall.

7.30 p.m., Steinlager’s mixed Indoor bowling tournament: Venue, Presbyterian Sunday School Hall. A great evening for all, especially if you have not played before. Prizes galore. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25 CHRISTMAS DAY IN WINTER 10.00 a.m., Mt Hutt skiing. 2.00 p.m., Father Christmas travels the slopes with Rudolf and the rest. Watch out, he has some lucky prizes (especially for the kids). 3.00 p.m., The school children of Methven decorate the Christmas tree in the Town Square. 4.00 p.m., Father Christmas arrives from the snow swooping over the Town Square to give all the children a great surprise. 6.00 p.m., Christmas

dinner is served: Enjoy roast turkey and plum pudding at your favourite restaurant, lodge or hotel. All eating houses have special Christmas menus tonight, and probably there will be carols by candlelight too. 7.30 p.m., “Fresh Up” indoor soccer tournament: Get your team together and come to Methven High School gym. Some real live action sponsored by The Apple and Pear Marketing Board.

8.00 p.m., Centrepoint Christmas festival dance: A night of fantasy and magic where Father Christmas and friends have some Christmas presents for lucky dancers. Presented by Centrepoint Resort Hotel.

Step back in time to an era of glitter and splendour complete with music right out of the past, plus guest artists. Tickets $2O each, includes all supper and refreshments. Entry by ticket only, from The Blue Pub, Methven. Special guests: The Wizard, Snowfed Queen, Miss Universe entrant, Juliet Hanham. Master of ceremonies, Ken Hippolite, 3ZE personality.
