M.A.F. charges for advice
A chargeable consultancy service has been started by the M.A.F. advisers in Nelson. “We realised a lot of enquiries had the potential to be charged as consultations,” a senior adviser, Mr Dick Brown, said. Previously these would have been turned over to private consultants. The service has not been promoted but in three weeks of operation six consultations have been held. The advisers charge a flat rate of $45 an hour covering the person directly involved with the client and information gathered from different sources within the ministry. The fees are part of a general move by the M.A.F. to earn revenue
after funding cuts announced last year.
