Rastrick, aged 24, is a third-year student nurse at the hospital and a committee was formed by some of his colleagues to raise the $5000 needed to help get him to Edinburgh. Rastrick has been cycling for eight years. He represented New Zealand at the Oceania tournament in New Caledonia in 1984.
