Original destroyed
The Wheatsheaf Inn first opened for business in 1875, the publican being one Henry Newton. Additions and alterations were made to the original two-storey building in the late 19205, and again in the late 60s. After the fire last October, the original structure was so badly damaged that it had to be demolished, and the new inn bears little resemblance to the Wheatsheaf of a century ago.
