European Bats
Just received “Batogram” from England with the news that the New Zealand band have played with Alex Chilton, The Housemartins, and the Screaming Blue Messiahs in Europe. Actually, it was a postcard from Kay Woodward, the guitarist for The Bats, who writes of a 10-day tour of France, Italy, Austria, West Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This included playing at Nuremburg with Chilton, Frank-
furt with The Housemartins, and West Berlin with the Screaming Blue Messiahs.
“All good crowd response and lots of fun,” she writes. The band have recorded three songs in an overnight session at Point Studios (the same recording venue that The Chills used when they were in Britain). The Bats are also going to use an eight-track studio in Glasgow, plus play a show in the city.
