Winds fail to shake Baker

Michelle Baker, of Timaru, mastered torrid conditions on Lyttelton Harbour yesterday to win both her races in the Laser section of the national women’s yachting selection trials. The trials, sailed in conjunction with the national youth championships, struck their worst weather in the series so far, with 26 knot gusts convincing many crews to stay ashore. Baker’s fifth straight win has given her a perfect tally and a . huge ;lead over Rotorua’s Lisa Kibblewhite.
