New compact oven fits smallest kitchen

A recent addition to the New Zealand family of cookers is the Grossag convection oven which stands 33cm high and is 41cm wide. It is believed to be the smallest oven on the New Zealand market. The size of the Grossag is, however, deceptive, because it can roast, grill, thaw, and bake full meals for a family. The company that markets them, Cotters Electrical, Ltd, insists that it can cook a whole meal all at once, by roasting the meat in the centre and cooking the vegetables at the bottom. Food is cooked by the hot circulating air and this also browns the food for grills, roasts and bakes. Because of its compactness the Grossag is portable so that it is easily dismantled and taken in caravans or to holiday batches. It plugs into an ordinary three-point plug and can sit on the kitchen

bench or be wall mounted. The Grossag has been on the New Zealand market for only 12 months and arrived in Christchurch in November. At $495 the Grossag is proving very popular with many families for its convenience in room space and its portability. For washing, it is easily dismantled and washed. Special accessories of a cleaning set with a special glass cleaner and one tin of oven spray, are provided with the oven. It also has an automatic timing device so you can leave it to cook while you are out and it will turn itself off, yet still keep a constant temperature to keep the food warm until you get home again. The Grossag is also thermostatically controlled to maintain the selected temperature at a constant level. Other accessories include three grill racks,

three plugs with screws and drilling template plate for mounting on the wall, a roasting thermometer, and cooking book. Originating from Germany the Grossag convection oven is one of the biggest selling ovens on the European market because they take up so little room in small city flats and apartments.
