Flights diverted
Fog at Auckland Airport resulted in a flurry of unscheduled overseas arrivals at Christchurch Airport yesterday morning. A Continental Airlines DC 10 en route from Los Angeles to Auckland had to be diverted to Christchurch, as did two Air New Zealand Boeing 747 s Auckland-bound from Los Angeles and Suva. All three aircraft had left again for Auckland by midday. The early-morning Boeing 737 domestic flight from Christchurch to Auckland was delayed by the fog, but at no stage was there a backlog of passengers at Christchurch Airport.
