Crash report delay

PA Nelson The completion date for the final report on last October’s Air Albatross crash in Tory Channel is likely to be delayed. Seven Nelson people and the Wellington-based pilot died in the accident. The Chief Inspector of Air Accidents, Mr Ron Chippindale, said late last month that the report would be issued before the end of April. However, an air accident inspector, Mr John

Leech, working alongside Mr Chippindale on the report, said yesterday there was still work to be done on it. He said there was no deadline for the report and he would be guessing if he gave a date. Mr Chippindale is out of New Zealand until the middle of next week. After he approves the report it will be handed to the Minister of Transport, Mr Prebble, who will decide whether to release it publicly.
