RESEARCH TOOLS? ' ijBBKd They have no choice... Bw MSB? I They have no voice... ** ■ - wp-" v W ’ Animal lovers are well aware of the gentleness W H of a rabbit and the intelligence of a primate. The fragWty and the sensitivity of these and |pF " X other animals is ignored, however, when they y . wß|g a are forced to become “research models” and i' 1 T '’’X/*'- W “experimental tools” in laboratories. 1 The calculated and systematic infliction of rJ V 1 disease, injury, pain, stress and deprivation is ! unthinkable to most of us. Yet in laboratories < § in our country each year, an estimated quarter . , , u of a million animals are “sacrificed” in the K- Z*. name of scientific investigation and our tax • -v-/ , HI i k dollars support most of this research. 1 ‘ I/IT”' A Br S There is virtually no legal protection for lab victims as they are burned, frozen, blinded, irradiated, battered, shocked, traumatized, . "'l. .1 ... ... drugged, isolated, poisoned, starved and exposed to other cruelties. Much of the research is done without the use of painkillers! The law exempts researchers from anti-cruelty laws! A great percentage of experiments are repetitive and duplicate experiments already carried out! Much funding is granted to scientists who simply use the animals so they can write papers never published ... or, if they are published, never read by anyone! Most research data resultant from animal experiments is useless in its applicability to human benefit. Once you learn of the atrocities and the magnitude of the suffering you’ll realise that experimental curiosity has gone too far. You need not be a “pet-owner” or an “animal lover” to know that the abuses must stop! Is anima! experimentation unethical? It it unnecessary? Isw it a waste of tax dollar? Would money be better used if spent for such needed vita! human services? Are non-anima! alternatives available? Is scientific advancement contingent upon finding and using more sophisticated technology? Is the abuse of other living creatures unjustifiable? SAFE (Save Animals From Experiments) believes the answer to these questions is YES. Together we can make a difference. We can influence a change from the dark ages of vivisection’s imprisonment and brutality to a modern technological age with a truly compassionate society restored to a reverence for life. SAFE is dedicated to ending animal suffering. | 1 WOULD LIKE TO HELP END ANIMAL SUFFERING | { • I wish to become a member and am enclosing $ | SAVE ANIMMKFFBmKMsImENTS Membership Fee. ■ (Life Membership $100.00) . / (Full Membership $5.00) / ?
