Fear of paralysis stops Liz Taylor
David Hartnell's

I’m not one to gossip, but Liz Taylor has cancelled her plans for back surgery. The reason? Well, she talked with several respected doctors who confirmed her fears that the surgery could leave her paralysed from the waist down. She says that she will put up with the pain until it becomes unbearable, then she will have surgery. Liza Minnelli, who has just turned 40, has had surgery at a fertility clinic to improve her chances of having the baby both she and her husband Marc Gero desperately want. She has had trouble getting pregnant since a miscarriage several years ago. The “Singin’ in the Rain” team of Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor are about to team up again for a Las Vegas act. It will be an all-singing-all-dancing show hitting the road next month.
Nick Nolte, Richard Dreyfuss and good old Bette Midler, have all signed a contract to star in a sequel to their smash hit movie, “Down And Out in Beverly Hills.” By the way, the first movie was a real hoot!
The rock star, Bruce Springsteen, has just bought his first house. It is a modest little place
with a breathtaking view of the city and the Pacific Ocean, costing a cool $14.5 million. It has six bedrooms, with matching bathrooms, a couple of very large living rooms, a reception room, a doublesized jacuzzi, tennis courts, three swimming pools, movie studio, and television area for 30 people. I have been to the house (it used to belong to
a friend of mine) and it is out of this world. The best and worst list of male hairstyles on television has recently been released. This is how they rate: Don Johnson, John Forsythe, Dack Rambo, Michael J. Fox and Tony Danza have the best hairstyles and David Hasselhoff, Michael Landon, Larry Hagman, JanMichael Vincent and Ted Danson the worst
Poor little pop superstar Madonna has badly damaged her hair because she is always trying to bleach it as blonde as the late Marilyn Monroe’s. Now she is frantically having hot oil treatments and using very heavy conditioners to try and get it back to looking good. ; Emma Samms, who plays Fallon on “Dynasty” and “The Colbys Of California,” is thinking of bringing out her own range of fun furs. A company has offered $lO milliohjto set her up. She is thjnkipg about it, and is trying to talk the producers 'of the show into using them /on “Dynasty.” Joan Collins’ is trying to do the sarhe thing with her new line of designer hats. Next, the show will become an hour of fashion items the stars want to sell — come to think about it, it couldn’t make the show any more dreary than it already is.
