Expelled Libyans planned to kill U.S. envoy—paper
NZPA-Reuter Paris Four Libyans expelled from France on Saturday were planning to kill a senior American diplomat in Paris, the conservative daily, “Le Figaro,” reports. It said the four, put on a plane for Libya after
France had accused them of “acts likely to damage public order,” had probably chosen the United States Consul-General, Mr Robert Ezelle, as their target. United States Embassy and French officials refused to comment on
the report, for which no source was given. It was the second time in a month that the French Government had expelled Libyans. Two weeks ago it asked two diplomats to leave, saying they were linked to people planning attacks
on American targets in Fr ance A United States Embassy spokesman said the expulsions two weeks ago had resulted from a threat of a grenade attack against queues of visa applicants at the American Embassy.
