N.Z. eighth in squash
NZPA staff correspondent Sydney Australia got away with the world junior . squash team championships in Brisbane yesterday when it beat England, 3-0, while New Zealand took another hiding to wind up eighth of the 14 teams.
While Australia showed plenty of character to beat England, 3-0, and win the championship, New Zealand was going down by the same score to West Germany in the last gjame of the tournament,
and according to its manager, Peter Hagan, had found its international level. “We just weren’t good enough,” he said last night. “There’s a big gap between New Zealand and the other countries, but what we’ve learned we’ll take back and hopefully gain by it” England finished second, Pakistan beat Canada, 3-0, for third and fourth, and Scotland beat a courageous Egypt 2-1, to take fifth place and leave the Egyptians sixth.'
