N.Z. evenly divided on ‘rebel’ tour
PA Wellington New Zealanders are fairly evenly divided on the “rebel” All Black tour of South Africa, according to a television poll. Five hundred people were asked if they approved or disapproved of the unofficial tour. Forty-six per cent disapproved and 40 per cent approved, said Tele-
vision New Zealand in a report on the “Eye Witness News”-Heylen poll last evening. The poll, with a margin for error of about 4 per cent, was taken last week as 21 players were preparing to leave New Zealand for South Africa. Before a historic court case torpedoed last year’s scheduled tour to South Africa, 58 per cent of New Zealanders said they were opposed to the tour.
