Wool about steady at Wellington

PA Wellington Prices were about steady at the combined Auckland, Wellington and Wanganui wool sale in Wellington yesterday. The sale drew little support from Japan and New Zealand mills and merchant scourers. The main buyers were from China and Eastern Europe. Of the offerings 67 per cent was second-shear, 14 per cent clothing oddments, 10 per cent lambs’ wool, 5 per cent fleece, and the rest miscellaneous. For fleece 35 to 37 microns, the market was in buyers’ favour, but average to good and average were down 2.5 per cent, compared with the last Dunedin sale.

Second-shear, good style, 50mm to 100 mm and longer was up to 2.5 per cent dearer, and 50/ 75mm was down 2.5 per cent.

Lambs’ wool 29/31 microns, poor to average, and poor, was up as much as 4 per cent. Second lambs’ wool was down 7.5 per cent. Clothing oddments, poof to average, were up 2.5 per cent, and poor down

2.5 per cent. The greasy average weight adjusted sale price was 340.46 c and clean was 457.85 c. The greasy market indicator was 337 c, and clean 454 c.
