Public Notices AMURI DISTRICT NOXIOUS PLANTS AUTHORITY DISTRICT PROGRAMME OCCUPIERS are advised that the District Programme having been approved by the Noxious Plants Council came Into force on April 1, 1986. Copies of the complete programme will be available during normal office hours at the Amurl County Council office, Culverden after May 1, 1986. PRECIS OF PROGRAMME: The Amur! District Noxious Plants Authority Is admlnstered by the Amurl County Council and Incorporates the whole of the Amurl County. (1) CLASS “A” NOXIOUS PLANTS: The responsibility for their eradication Iles with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Those gazetted in this authority being: Johnson Grass (Sorghum helepense). Water Hyacinth (Elchhornla crasslpes). Water lettuce (Pistla stratiotes). Salvlnia (Salvlnta molesta). Cape Tulip (Homerla collina). (2) CLASS "B” NOXIOUS PLANTS (Two Groups): The responsibility for recognising infestations and carrying out control work Iles with the occupier. (а) “Target” Plants — plants of limited distribution where eradication is considered possible providing a suitable and sustained programme Is implemented. Those “Target” plants gazetted are: Barberry (Berberis glaucocarpa). Corsican Pine (Pinus nigra ssp lariclo) on defined properties. Gorse (Ulex spp) on Class VII and VIII country. Grecian Thistle (Chamaepeuce afra). Nodding Thistle (Carduus nutans) on all land within the Waiau Plains and Balmoral Irrigation Schemes. Spanish Heath (Erica Lusitanlca). (b) “Widespread” Plants — plants that are widely distributed and abundant in suitable habitats in the district or which colonise as soon as these habitats become available. Programmes will alm to prevent the plants spreading to new areas or onto neighbouring properties where control Is being carried out. Those “Widespread” plants gazetted are: Blackberry (Rubus frutlcosus agg). Broom (Cytisus scoparius). Gorse (Ulex spp) (on country other than Class VII and VIII). Hawthorn (Conium maculaturn) (Urban land only). Nodding Thistle (Carduus nutans) (on land outside the Waiau Plains and Balmoral Irrigation Schemes). Plumeless Thistle (Carduus acantholdes). Ragwort (Seneclo jacobaea). Wild Oat (Avena fatua and Avena sterilis ssp) (seed only). (3) PROGRAMMES: Occupiers are required to fill out a programme form for all declared plants found on their property, appropriate forms can be obtained from the Council office or Noxious Plants Officer. (4) PROPAGATION, SALE AND DISTRIBUTION OF NOXIOUS PLANTS: It is an offence to propagate, plant, sow, distribute, offer for sale or sell any noxious plants or any seed, cutting or part of such plant unless prior consent is obtalneed from the Noxious Plants Council. This applies to the Class A and Class B plants mentioned above as well as the following plants and their associated seed and cuttings: Eeel Grass (Vallisnevla gigantea). Egerla/Oxygen Weeed (Egerla densa). Hornwart (Ceratophyllum demersum). Hydrllla/Oxygen Weed (Hydrilla vetlclllata). Largarosiphon Major (Largarosiphon Major). (5) NOTICES TO CONTROL OR ERADICATE CLASS “B” NOXIOUS PLANTS: If an occupier falls to carrry out the control requirements, a legal notice will be served. The action to be taken and the time within which the work must be done will be specified in the notice. (б) ROAD FRONTAGES: Under the Act an occupier of land adjacent to a road is responsible for noxious plants control to the middle line of the road. However, the Act also provides for the legal owners of the road to undertake to carry out the work on the road and any adjacent road reserve. The policy of the Amur!
