Big win to Manawatu
PA Palmerston North Concerted driving forward play carried Manawatu to a comfortable 24-6 win over New Zealand Police in a representative rugby match at Palmerston North yesterday. It was Manawatu’s fourth win of the season coming after the three games on its tour of Japan last month. The match was held as part of the centennial celebrations of both
Manawatu and the New Zealand Police. Manawatu scored five tries to one in the match. The home side led, 8-6, at half-time after each team managed a try, but when Manawatu turned with the wind a victory looked certain. Scorers: Manawatu 24: Jim Barker, Bruce Hemara, Richard Jerram, Imosi koloto, Dave Gosling tries; Matene Love and Paul Duncan conversions; N.Z. Police 6: David de Lange a try; Sam McLean a conversion.
