‘Anarchy’ refused
PA Wellington Farmers . would not stand by and watch industrial anarchy wreck the meat industry, said Federated Farmers’ president, Mr Peter Elworthy, last evening. “I feel confident that the live sheep trade will help underpin the confidence of the sheep meat industry and so ensure the
employment of a large number of people,” he said. "We are totally committed to the live sheep trade as a viable alternative for our sheepfarmers.” The wellbeing of all engaged directly and indirectly in the meat industry rested on sheepfarming remaining profitable.
