Christchurch Brother United recorded its second win in the Budget House Rangers pre-season soccer tournament at Rangers Park on Wednesday night.

Having beaten Western, 6-0, in its opening game, United had a tougher battle before overcoming Halswell United, 2-1. John Hanson scored twice for United and Mike Fulien got Baisweil's goal, all three coming in a four-minute spell towards the end of the match.

Gary Lund (Christchurch United) and Wayne Burt (Halswell) won the player of the match awards. In the other game, KLM Cashmere played a scoreless draw with New Brighton. Mark Smith (Cashmere) and Phil Lawton (New Brighton) won the match awards.
