Lotto questioned
PA Hamilton The State should control Lotto rather than give “a complete new risky ball game” to private entrepreneurs, said the Opposition spokesman on internal affairs, Mr Graeme Lee.
Mr Lee, member of Parliament for Hauraki, said there was an “ominous silence” about some details of the proposed introduction of the numbers game. The Government caucus considered the introduc-
tion of Lotto last week but no details were made public except that legislation introducing the game would be put to Parliament this year and prob-, ably implemented early in 1987, he said. Mr Lee said questions needing answers included: • How big is the Government “rake-off’ from Lotto to be?
• Who is going to run Lotto? • Will Lotto funds be distributed through the Lottery Board?
