Wyllie names sevens squad
The Canterbury rugby coach, Alex Wyllie, has named 20 players to train at Rugby Park this evening, beginning at 6 p.m., for the region four elimination of the Freshup inter-provincial sevens tournament at Timaru on Saturday. After the run Mr Wyllie will name the 18 who will comprise the two Canterbury entries. < Mid-Canterbury, South Canterbury and Otago will also field two teams, and North Otago and Southland both one.
The two top teams will qualify for the national final at Feilding the following week. The 20 players Mr Wyllie has called on are Dale Atkins, Graham and Stephen Bachop, Steve Baker, Richard Connell, Phil Cropper, Ross Curd, Robbie Deans, Craig Green, Adrian Kennedy, James Leggat, Joe Leota, Allan Lindsay, Grant Mlckell, John Mills, Victor Simpson, Richard Smith, Wayne Smith, Warwick Taylor and Mark Treweek.
