Austin Rover signs deal with Peugeot
The Austin Rover division of British Leyland has signed an agreement with Peugeot under which the French firm’s 205 model in petrol and diesel forms will be sold alongside a special edition of the BL Mini in Japanese Austin Rover dealerships. Austin Rover is expanding its Japanese dealer network in readiness for the launch of the MG Metro and Honda-BL developed Rover 800 in Japan later this year. The Mini, which has been in production for about 35 years and has remained substantially unchanged since launch date, is the biggest selling imported car in Japan, where it is regarded as very chic and very English.
