‘Windfall’ of $250,000
A “windfall” $250,000 Government grant has come to the aid of Thames Valley towns hit by flood a year ago. The Health Department grant, which will bring the total funding to $750,000, was given to the Thames Valley United Council.
The council has agreed to divide the extra grant among affected councils on the same basis as the previous $500,000. The money, marked for water and sewerage repairs, will go 76.64 per cent to Te Aroha, 15.75 per cent to Thames, 7.18 per cent to Ohinemuri, and .43 per cent to Paeroa.
