Canty brigades dominate events
Greymouth reporter Sumner scored the highest aggregate points in all events at the inter-provincial Fire Brigade Competition Shield event in Hokitika on Saturday. Two points behind, on 66 points, was Amberley. Canterbury teams won all six trophies, including the Knight Trophy for the province with the highest total. Canterbury, which had 15 teams entered compared with eight from the West Coast, recorded 284 points as against the West Coast’s 94. Reefton was the best performer of the West Coast teams.
