‘One last fling’ call

PA Gisborne The New Zealand soccer coach, Kevin Fallon, will be calling for “one last fling” from his tired All Whites this evening when they play the Soviet Union in Gisborne in the last game of their five-match series. Mr Fallon feels that his home ground of Gisborne could well provide him with the best chance for “the result ” he would dearly love against the Russians.

“I think the boys are very tired. They have done very well for me. I would like to think they

can give it one last fling and get a result tomorrow. I am very optimistic we can get one,” he said.

“I would like to think we can score first and then make a tougher game for the Soviet Union,” said Mr Fallon. Both sides will name their teams today after a training session at the Childers Road ground which is expected to be hard and fast for the game. Mr Fallon said the team had no injury problems apart from a few bumps and bruises. The game will kick off at 6 p.m.
