Magic Eagle top chance at Gore

Magic Eagle may regain winning form on his home course in the President’s Handicap at the Gore Racing Club’s meeting at Gore today. The grey, which is trained by Ted Winsloe, indicated a winning turn was close at hand when he beat all but Lady Glenshiel at Wingatui last Tuesday. On that occasion, Magic Eagle sustained a long and dour

run and only failed by half a head.

Great Night’s Dunedin Cup showing entitles him to respect. Against much stronger opposition than he strikes today, he was a respectable sixth in the Dunedin feature.

Mister Winks has often promised to make good as a stayer. His earlier form this season was of a high standard and he may now be ready to make a successful switch to a middle distance.

Highland Peer is inclined to mix his efforts, but is not lacking ability on his day. He makes some appeal for better odds.

Star Fraction, the talented son of Star Way, may be too quick for his sprint rivals in the Phoenix Aviation Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. double. He represents good class and is strengthening all the time.
