McNamee wins tennis
NZPA-AAP Darwin The Australian Davis Cup hope, Paul McNamee, won the $20,000 Northern Territory Indoor Tennis Classic over the week-end notching up three straight wins in a round-robin contest. McNamee outlasted his long-term doubles partner, Peter McNamara, in the final round on Saturday night to reverse a first set loss.
His 2-6, 7-6, 6-1, victory came after earlier wins over the New Zealander, Chris Lewis, and a fellow Davis Cup player, Wally Masur. Lewis, returning to the game after a lay-off, was the next successful with wins over McNamara and Masur, while McNamara defeated Masur. x . The three Australians used the competition as match practice for the forthcoming first round Davis Cup tie
