The purpose of the position is to investigate the biology of and fishery for red cod (Pseudophycis bacchus). Areas of specific investigation will include one or more of the following: analysis of the available data on the biology of and fishery for the Kies; investigation of age determination teches for the species; assessment of the known [fluctuations in the availability of red cod to the D commercial fishery; investigation of the relationship of red cod to other demersal fish species and to hydrological conditions; investigation of the food and feeding habits of red cod and its distribution in relation to that of its major prey species. Skills in computing and experience in fisheries science are desirable, but applicants with good zoological/mathematical degrees will be considered.
