Waikato regular visitor
Although she was diverted on her last visit to Lyttelton, H.M.N.Z.S. Waikato is set to become a regular visitor to the port. Late last month the Navy frigate was diverted from Lyttelton to Dunedin because of congestion at Lyttelton’s oil wharf.
The ship, which has been chosen to escort the Royal yacht Brittania; sailed on to Dunedin and then the Campbell and Auckland Islands. She encountered no problems on a visit to Lyttelton earlier this month and has become quite a regular visitor with a further two stops scheduled for February 27 and March 3. The Royal Yacht arrived in New Zealand yesterday, five days behind schedule, because of the recent evacuation of citizens from South Yemen. ARRIVALS Nil. DEPARTURES Nil.
