Auckland made no race of the Johnson and Johnson New Zealand under--21 women’s softball final at Ashburton yesterday, beating Hutt Valley, 11-2. Hutt had beaten Auckand, 4-3, in a tie-breaker innings the evening before, but it never recov-
ered from a nervous start yesterday. Other play-offs resulted, third place: North Shore 12, Wellington 7; Fifth: Hawke’s Bay 6, Southland 2; Seventh: Canterbury 13, Waikato 5; Ninth: Otago 13, Manawatu 5; Eleventh: Mid-Canterbury 10, South Canterbury 0.
